Yoga nourishes my soul.
I found the beautiful and transformational practice of Yoga when I was newly divorced and was seeking connection after moving to a new city in 2002.
At first, it was only stretching, but then it became something more. Yoga and its philosophies formed new perspectives and physical and emotional changes.
Through Yoga, I found stability, focus, and balance. Not just through the asanas themselves, but in how I moved through all of life.
Kripalu's first Canadian Certified Grief Yoga Teacher.
I've struggled with depression since my early 20s and even considered suicide as my only option a few times, but my hardest and darkest times in grief actually provided me with deeper insight on how I want to live my life.
A powerful message from the gifted Maya Angelou flowed through me as my feet padded the floors at Kripalu, "I come as one, I stand as ten thousand." I use this as a mantra to lead me through darkest times as a reminder of the guardians and angels of the world and their gentle guidance of love and patience.
I was in an abusive relationship for nearly a decade. I didn't see, or even feel, the full effects of the trauma until I started to unfold the layers through a daily sadhana practice and how I share the teachings of Yoga with my students. Creating a safe place and a somatic experience with effective therapeutic language to ensure that you receive the full effects of your Yoga practice.
